Have you ever been interested in leadership or business? FBLA is a commendable club offered at Manchester High School that can build your knowledge on business and leadership skills. Mrs. Bell and Mr. Crowe are the school sponsors who provide a fun and exciting learning opportunity!
FBLA, also known as Future Business Leaders of America, has been an organization since February 3, 1942, originated by Dr. Hamden L. Forkner. Its first chapter, chartered in Johnson City, Tennessee. Their mission is to prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society.
“ FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences,” FBLA describes.
Besides FBLA’s inspiring message, what else can it offer to students? I interviewed Mrs. Bell at Manchester HIgh School, had a few questions and received some great answers. What do you get to do in FBLA, she had the following to say.
“ Students get to attend school meetings, volunteer, they’re able to travel to different conferences, and join in on some fun social events,” Bell described.
Coming to Manchester, you may be feeling a bit scared or timid, but FBLA seems to be an amazing place to harness new skills. Speaking of it, what new skills can you grow?
“ You get to grow Leadership, your confidence, organization skills, and even emotional intelligence,” Bell stated.
Finally, I wanted to ask her why would you recommend students to join FBLA. This is what she had to say.
“ It allows students to connect with each other, it’s a good opportunity to make friends, it prepares you for the business world, and lets you network,” Bell proclaimed.
Overall, FBLA seems to be a great opportunity for students who are interested in the business world, and want to expand on their leadership skills.
“ FBLA should be student focused, whoever picks up the torch, let them. It’s student based. Allow them to lead the meetings and events, and better their skills,” Bell explained.
