I recently talked to Alijah Figueroa about what keeps him going. A lot of people are scared to stand out, but Alijah is the opposite. He knows who he is and isn’t afraid to show it. He told me that what he likes most about himself is that he is sure of himself and really cares about everything he does.
Alijah doesn’t just “do” school and sports; he goes after them with a lot of energy. He said that he loves his classes and teams because he wants to be great at everything he does. “I don’t just want to be a student or an athlete,” Alijah said during our chat. “I want to be the one people can count on to get the job done right.” This way of thinking makes sure that he always gives 100%, whether he’s in the library or on the field.
What really sets him apart is his confidence. He said that being confident doesn’t mean being loud or showing off; it means having a quiet faith that he can handle any problem. This “never give up” attitude is what keeps him so focused, even when things get tough. “If you don’t believe in your own potential, you’ve already lost the game,” he said. “That’s why I always walk into the room expecting to win.”
When you talk to Alijah, you quickly realize that it is not just because the boy is lucky, it is because the boy is hardworking and focused. By staying positive and keeping his passion for school and sports alive, Alijah is developing the foundation for a very successful future. Whether it is studying hard for an important exam or playing his heart out in a game, Alijah Figueroa is the embodiment of what happens when you truly believe.
