Virtual learning tips

Virtual school is something that’s new to all of us, and without the right plan and time management, your mental health can suffer.

To practice time management skills virtually can be more challenging, but it’s worth it in the end. It’s important to create a balanced and efficient work schedule, so you can focus on one thing at a time. An effective way to do this is to set up time slots for certain classes, so at the end of the day you can work on one subject at a time. If your teacher gives you asynchronous or individual work time, you can also use that time to work on a certain class.

Another helpful way to manage your time is to buy a planner or a calendar, and use it to keep up with upcoming events or due dates. Once you write it all out, you can see how you need to manage your time to meet all of your deadlines. This also helps because you can refer to the calendar and not only use it for assignments, but for social events as well.

Try to get up in between classes and walk around to stretch your legs and give yourself a break from the screen. It’s okay to step outside and get a breath of fresh air too. A change in scenery is important for your mental health after sitting down for a long period of time.

Always be sure to take time during the day for yourself, and feel free to use some of these suggestions (or send us some of your own!) to organize your work and keep your sanity during virtual school.
