School lunches are necessary and are provided by schools for students who need them, however, students often find the lunches unappealing. The food is said to be bland, and many think there is no variety. There has also been a struggle with not getting enough food, which is especially important for athletes. Sophomore Mae Oo said, “Honestly, the school food is bad. Most of the food is unseasoned, uncooked, or we get small portions that don’t fill us up.”
On the other hand, it is great that the school lunches at Manchester High School are free, and could be very helpful for students who may need a free meal. Students appreciate that you have the option to get lunch, despite all of its flaws. “Thankfully the school provides free lunch with an option of nutritious fruit…I thank the lunch ladies’ efforts and time in preparing us a lunch.” Said 10th grader at Manchester High School, Ashley Cano. There are both sides to school lunches but nonetheless the school provides it to us optionally and free.
