On November 2, 2023 from 9:30am to 11:30am a plethora of speakers came to MHS to inform the sophomore class of the dangers of getting on the road while distracted, inebriated, or illegally. They demonstrated what a drunk driving accident would look like with the help of fellow classmates.
“I wanted to help, it was a good cause, it was something worth doing,” says Harrison Bayuk, a student who participated in the demonstration of what happens in a drunk driving accident.
“It was a complex feeling, like, seeing your friends [lying dead] in front of you is definitely not something I’d wish to experience again,” says Katelynn Dodson when asked about her impression from the demonstration of the accident.
When I went around and asked students who where at the assembly what they took away from the experience each had this to say,
“Texting and driving is a lot more lethal than I thought it would be,” says Willow Buck.
“You need to be safe and responsible while driving or else you could cause serious and unfortunate accidents,” replied Katelynn Dodson.
