Sonic Drive-In, a popular fast food chain in the United States, has recently introduced a new item to their menu: the steak and bacon grilled cheese sandwich. As a lover of both steak and bacon, I was excited to try this new item to see if it lived up to my expectations.

Upon receiving the sandwich, the first thing that caught my attention was its size. It was a very large portion and was very dense, with two thick slices of Texas Toast sandwiching a generous amount of steak, bacon, and melted cheese. The bread, deceiving to the eye, was quite soggy and flavorless. I was hoping it would have provided a crunch with each bite, but that seemed to be too much to ask for.

The steak itself was tough and was in one large slice which was different from the diced steak which was shown in its picture on Sonic’s website. The bacon added a smoky and salty touch and was one of the only good parts of the sandwich. The cheese was melted nicely, and came with the perfect amount although, like the bread, w

as flavorless.

One aspect of the sandwich that needed major improvement was the amount of sauce. I found that the advertised honey barbeque and mayonnaise were sparse at best and left the sandwich dry at some parts.

I went to Sonic with a smile on my face, excited to try a new item, but after trying their steak and bacon grilled cheese sandwich, all of my joy evaporated, and I was left with a sour expression on my face. Whether it was the employees’ lack of care in making my sandwich or the oversight of the people who came up with the sandwich is unknown, but what I can say for certain is that the sandwich subceeded my expectations.
